Gauss Measurement
- Gauss measurements and mapping around the MRI control rooms to ensure the functionality of the monitors of computers and laptops
- Gauss measurements and mapping around the MRI suite to ensure the functionality of other sensitive medical equipment which is installed in the MRI suite vicinity
- Examine/verify the effectiveness of magnetic shielding used inside the MRI rooms
- Measuring the magnetic field at the floor, walls, and ceilings of previous MRI rooms in order to examine its and suitability to house another medical equipment
The static magnetic field of magnets is three-dimensional and extends into space above and below the magnet as well as to the surrounding space on the same level. Objects within this three-dimensional space can be affected by the magnetic field. Every precaution must be made to ensure that sensitive imaging equipment is installed outside the certain Gauss magnetic flux density level.
The static magnet iso-gauss plot lines offered by the manufacturers are an idealized magnetic field relative to magnet isocenter. Vibetech consultants, using state-of-the-art instrumentation and techniques, will accurately measure and map magnetic flux density around the magnet rooms to ensure functionality of all sensitive medical equipment installed in the close proximity of MRI systems. Vibetech consultants also can examine/verify the effectiveness of magnetic shielding used inside the MRI rooms.
Instrumentation
The measurement of total magnetic flux density levels (Gauss levels) will be performed using Bartington Instruments Spectramag-6 system which is a six channel, 24-bit data acquisition system comprising of both hardware and software, and Mag-03MS1000 triaxial fluxgate magnetometers with field ranges from ±70(±0.7G) to ±1000uT (± 10G) with a resolution down to a few pT.
